What are the general guidelines for pilates air mat exercises?

Most pilates mat classes are close to an hour long. A nice pilates inflatable yoga mat is required, and some auxiliary equipment such as magic rings, small balls (or large balls), and foam rollers (depending on the course) may also be used. Usually a pilates mat class consists of a variety of body positions, including supine, prone, side-lying and sitting. More experienced instructors will wrap up each session with a few classic pilates poses.

Are there different levels of courses for beginners and experienced students?

In my opinion, there should be a distinction between experienced students and beginners and different levels of courses. You can also ask your coach which course is better for you. If the class is very crowded, you can ask for a different time to get more attention and assistance from the coach in a less attended class, or even for a personal coaching session.
